The soil around here is mostly calcareous and this limestoney minerality shines through in the wines. macabeu risat is made from 60-year-old macabeu vines at 800m of altitude on white calcareous soil with a lot of quartz and stone. ribera del duero, 2014
This is a very good introduction to the wines of the Ribera del Duero. It displays a freshness and elegance that is above the common standard in the wines from this region. In the nose it is very aromatic, displaying red fruit and spices notes. In the mouth, it is elegant, with the oak well integrated and a good weight of fresh red fruit and some chocolate enticing notes.
